A repeat, and it's getting old

Things that I want my laptop to do in the future:

  • Recognise and respond to the body language which humans cannot suppress even when using a laptop. Try to run faster when I'm frustrated, or at least offer a sympathetic sad face in Growl; increase the screen brightness when I squint; be more colourful, louder and more inclined to switch to my browser when I'm energetic and happy; suggest that I go for a little walk when I slouch for more than a few minutes at a time.
  • Relatedly, slow down and offer to undo actions which are immediately followed by a groan and expression of annoyance.
  • Notice which part of the screen I prefer to look at, and put my active windows there automatically.
  • Notice which tracks I frequently turn the volume up or down on, and play them more or less often, respectively.
  • Focus windows and buttons which I stare at for a while.

Regarding the fourth point, Amarok can do something similar, though based on how often you skip tracks (and how far through) rather than the volume.

Clever! That's internal to the app, though. I want an operating-system solution that listens to the machine's own volume control.

Besides, I almost never skip tracks, because it would stuff up the delicate statistical game that I play with iTunes and its play counts :)

Oh, and I also want it to change the angle of the screen when I lean forwards or backwards. But that's mechanical.
