Better not mess with Major Tom

So far, not a huge amount of success. Lots of practice, not much insight. More practice needed. My textbook, I've realised, is worse than useless - at best it treats lightly topics which require deep understanding, and at worst it gives different definitions from those used in class. The lecture notes, being mostly examples, aren't much use either. Teaching by example is not a valid way of imparting information.
