Anyone else want to have a go at this? I'd really appreciate your comments. Blaise? Bruce? qwandor?

For Φ ∈ (1, 5), (3 - Φ) is purely real while sqrt((Φ-5)(Φ-1)) is purely imaginary. So the imaginary part of the expression will be ±sqrt((Φ-5)(Φ-1))/2.
