For Φ ∈ (1, 5), (3 - Φ) is purely real while sqrt((Φ-5)(Φ-1)) is purely imaginary. So the imaginary part of the expression will be ±sqrt((Φ-5)(Φ-1))/2.

No, the imaginary part is the coefficient on i.
