Expect a thousand more

The math review has been mostly revision so far, but it's been very very fast revision. There's a lot of attention being paid to things which are not mathematically interesting, and which consequently were glossed over in my math courses. I know the words and the definitions (positive definite, leading principal minor, concavity, quadratic form), but I've never worked closely with the concepts before.

There's a huge amount of analysis. A lot more analysis than I was expecting. Of course it's impossible to do everything properly in the time available, and given that, I'm impressed at the extent to which the lecturer is striving to use correct terms and definitions wherever possible. I can't imagine that this is pleasing to those who've never done analysis before, though - it must seem like all these foreign words are being tossed around with no regard for meaning.

Turns out there is no Micro textbook, so I'm all set for the year. Shall I try to read all three Chapter 1s this weekend?

Finally, finally, finally the ECON 314 grade is out. I got an A+! It's amazing! I actually did it, despite having mentioned in advance that I might (I firmly believe it is bad luck to tell anyone your honest expectations about your marks. Always downgrade them first).

ECON 309 is out too. I got a B+ for that, which is about what I expected, and doesn't drag my lowest ECON grade down any further.

Here are all my undergrad ECON grades. If my MATH grades were a parabola, these are x⁴-2x²+1. The symmetry astounds me.

I got the journal in okay, 25 minutes before deadline. My responses to the third article were nearly twice the length of my responses to the fourth, yet both fit together on a single page. From this you may deduce my feelings about the fourth article.

Now begins the four-week period in which I intend to journal no less than ten articles, effectively completing one third of this assessment in one sixth of the available time (where "time" is measured as number of handins). The only reason I'm able to consider doing this is that there's no journal handin during the break.
